T42
T42 is a local neighbourhood, Ottawa band. You heard it hear here… the next big band originating from the Glebe! Genre: Alternative. First recording: Very Soon.
Teenagers often get such a bad rap. I don’t see a lot of that around here. Take this band of creative 16-ish year old students from Glebe High. They’ve set up their own band and are now recording their first album. A few buddies bonding through their love of music. They participated in a local program to elevate their performance, a pilot conceived by owners of Mach One Music Studios called WRIP – Writing, Rehearsing and Recording, Internet exposure, and Performance. They continue to move themselves to the next level through continued practice, practice & more practice.
Yes, teenagers sleep in and sometimes their judgement is questioned. Well, think about how you might act if your prefrontal cortex was still changing in that way!? You might even cut them some slack. Remind yourself of what’s still going on in their brains. Keep encouraging and recognizing that at this stage of their development, participation in music, sports or academics is getting hardwired in their brains.
You may come across T42 in the ‘hood at performances benefiting Fire Victims, at outdoor coffee houses or jamming at the Glebe Community Centre. We feel quite lucky having one of the band members right next door, and truly do enjoy the musical vibes emanating from the basement or porch. Meantime, to get a feel for their music, take a listen:
